VIDEO GEGO. RETICULÁREA

Beta Studio and Fundación Gego produced a video showing images of the various installations of Reticulárea, from its first exhibition in 1969, its permanent installation at the Galería de Arte Nacional in 1981 and the installation of another Reticulárea at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1982. In this video its director Luis Montenegro Lafont achieved an impeccable poetic account of Reticulárea. The video was sponsored by Goethe Institut – Venezuela.

JULY 2012. GEGO AT GAN

A selection of Gego’s works belonging to Fundación de Museos Nacionales was exhibited at Módulo 14 of Galería de Arte Nacional, Caracas, from July 15th 2012 on. The public was able to take in this sample within the general framework offering a panoramic view of the history of art in our country.

JULY 2012. OPEN WORK. TESTIMONY AND VALIDITY MUSEO DE ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO DE CARACAS

This exhibition, under the curatorship of Fabiola Arroyo Poleo and Indira Aguilera Kohl and the counsel of María Luz Cárdenas, went through different correlations and aesthetic dialogues which supply evidence of the open character of Gego’s work and its significant influence throughout time. It consisted of a selection of works by Gego and other recognized Venezuelan visual artists belonging to the collection of Fundación Museos Nacionales and a heterogeneous group of works by different invited contemporary artists. It also included singular productions from notorious national representatives from various disciplines such as dancing, poetry and graphic design among others.

MAY 2012. GEGO. PROCEDENCIA Y ENCUENTRO. SALA MENDOZA

“Procedencia y encuentro” (Provenance and encounter), a sentence which comes from a text by the artist, summarizes the essence of this exhibition under the curatorship of Josefina Manrique assisted by Mariana Reyes and Claudia Garcés. Organized by Fundación Gego and Sala Mendoza, it showed a selection of works by the artist which revealed points of departure from which – through drawing – Gego took up a certain line of investigation; an encounter which would then serve as a starting point for new creative processes. It was open from May 27th to August 19th, 2012, at Sala Mendoza, Universidad Metropolitana, in Caracas.

APRIL 2012. GEGO: COLECCIÓN MERCANTIL

An exhibit which included etchings, inks, drawings without paper and a large format textile, all works belonging to the collection of Banco Mercantil, was shown from April 29th until August 5th, 2012, at Espacio Mercantil, Edf. Panaven, Altamira, Caracas.

GEGO. 100 YEARS | 2012-2014

With a large program of activities such as exhibitions, book presentations, conferences, poetry recitations and workshops for adults and children, Fundación Gego, together with other national and international cultural institutions, commemorated during 2012, 2013 and 2014 the centennial of GEGO’s birth (Gertrud Goldschmidt 1912-1994).

 

For this tribute,  Álvaro Sotillo and Gabriela Fontanillas designed the graphic image which accompanied the whole program of events as well as the associated publications. Based on a cuadrangle of 100 luninous points, the name GEGO can appear in 100 diffrent forms in a logotype which changes according to the format and taste of the user.
